How does the home delivery auto-pen work for membership patients?

Membership patients receive their GLP-1 auto-pen shipped directly to their home by our licensed compounding pharmacy. An optional in-office RN orientation is available for patients new to auto-pen devices. Patients already comfortable with auto-pens do not need the orientation. The clinical team remains available throughout the membership to support dosing questions.

Some patients undergoing GLP-1 therapy experience a loss of facial volume as a result of rapid body composition changes — a phenomenon sometimes referred to as "GLP-1 Face." Moderating the pace of change and eating a high-quality diet with plenty of protein may help reduce this risk. Spa 35 offers dermal filler treatments that can address volume loss in the face.

What happens when I stop the program?

Some patients experience changes in appetite and body composition when stopping GLP-1 injections. It is important to adopt sustainable diet and exercise habits during the program so you are positioned to maintain your progress afterward. We encourage you to discuss any concerns with your provider — adjusting your dose or schedule is often a better solution than stopping entirely.

Are compounded GLP-1 peptides FDA approved?

The compounded GLP-1 formulation offered at Spa 35 is prepared by a licensed compounding pharmacy and is considered "off-label." It has not been independently evaluated or approved by the FDA for any specific indication. Some proprietary GLP-1 formulations have received FDA review for specific uses. If you have a BMI greater than 27 along with weight-related medical conditions, you may be eligible for one of those FDA-reviewed options — ask your provider to discuss what may be appropriate for you.

GLP-1 Peptides are an injectable medication of a glucagon-like peptide (GLP-1) antagonist that slows gastric emptying and reduces glucose absorption. This increases your insulin production and triggers a hormone that keeps food in your stomach longer. This decreases your appetite makes you feel fuller quicker and longer. So, you eat fewer calories, resulting in weight loss.

What is the process?

GLP-1s are delivered in weekly injections at Spa 35. You’ll start by completing a comprehensive questionnaire about your medical history. At your first appointment you’ll meet with a Nurse Practitioner who will review your current condition of health to ensure you’re a good candidate for GLP-1 injections. If you are healthy and have an appropriate body mass index you’ll get your first injection with the Nurse Practitioner. Then each week you’ll come in for a very quick injection from a registered nurse. It is important to stay on a very repetitive weekly schedule. If you miss a weekly appointment your dosage may be decreased to minimize side effects. Your experience with side effects will be monitored and dosage will be increased based upon your response to GLP-1 injections.

Some potential side effects include

Constipation
Diarrhea
Fatigue
Loss of facial fullness (a.k.a. Ozempic face)

The most common side effects are nausea and constipation. Eating smaller meals, avoiding high fat foods, and remaining upright after eating can decrease these side effects. Over the counter medications can be used for these side effects. Some people report not feeling as thirsty as before starting treatment, which may contribute to constipation. Increasing water intake may decrease your risks of constipation. See the Informed Consent form for a complete list of risks and potential complications.

GLP-1 Peptide injections at Spa 35 are intended for healthy individuals. If you suffer from chronic disease or any contraindications, you should not start injections before consulting your primary care provider. Come to Spa 35 ready to have your weight measured and clothing that allows your provider to access your abdominal area.

GLP-1 injections are performed with a very small needle, and you should experience mild or no discomfort. You may experience small pinpoint bleeding and/or minor bruising.

We recommend that you eat before your treatment because you may feel uncomfortable during meals after your injection.

GLP-1 peptide injections my cause serious side effects including thyroid C-cell tumors and pancreatitis. You shouldn’t get injections if you have a personal or family history of thyroid tumors or pancreatitis.
