Foundations of great skin care:

• Sun Screen - Preferably with zinc oxide or titanium dioxide. The FDA recently found that zinc oxide and titanium dioxide are safe. Other sun screen ingredients are under study for safety and efficacy. Zinc oxide and titanium dioxide are minerals reflect and block the UV rays from reaching your skin. Other ingredients in sun screens change the UV energy but are less desirable.

Prescription grade Vitamin A cream (e.g. Tretinion, Retin A, etc.) have been clinically studied for their effectiveness at decreasing lines and rough texture by stimulating collagen growth and exfoliation.

Hydroquinone is another prescription grade product you should consider adding to your skin care routine. Hydroquinone reduces brown discoloration in the skin by slowing down melanin production by the melanocytes in your skin. Sun damage and hormone imbalances (e.g. Pregnancy mask) can both cause excessive and spotty production of melanin, causing uneven skin tone.
