Downtown Boise is in a constant state of change. As the capital city of Idaho downtown Boise has traditionally been home to state government offices (including the state capital) and locally owned restaurants and shops. But that has changed.

Boise State University has moved its Computer Science center into downtown Boise to foster synergy between the rapidly growing technology companies and the education pipeline they depend upon . The Hyatt Place, Residence Inn and The Inn At 500 Capital are all hotels under construction in the downtown area scheduled for opening in the near future. The Pioneer Crossing development has begun at 11th street and Myrtle street. This new project will include a hotel, parking structure, retail and office space. It is scheduled for completion in 2018.
Boise is developing a reputation as a great city for technology companies. The Idaho Technology Council has representatives from many of Idaho's most prominent technology companies and they are assisting Idaho develop an environment that fosters educational, funding and infrastructure that creates high wage technology jobs in Idaho.
